After this change, DNS for your domain will be managed on our side.
Option 2: Keep your current nameservers and update A/MX-related records
Update your DNS zone at your registrar as follows:
Website
| Host | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
@ |
A | 169.46.72.116 |
www |
A | 169.46.72.116 |
Mail (only if your email is hosted with AlterHosting)
MX records must point to a hostname (not an IP). Here’s the typical setup:
| Host | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
mail |
A | 169.46.72.116 |
@ |
MX (priority 10) | mail.yourdomain.com |
If you use a third-party email provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.), do not change your MX. Keep your provider’s MX records and only update the website A record(s) if needed.
Propagation note: DNS changes may take time to propagate depending on your registrar and your current TTL settings. If you can, lowering TTL a few hours before a change can help, but it’s not required.
We are migrating AlterHosting services to a new generation of faster, higher-capacity servers.
Expected impact: no downtime for normal use. Some long-lived sessions (SSH/FTP) may reconnect briefly.
Contact us in advance if you use IP allowlisting or have critical integrations.
