After‑migration checklist (January 22, 2026)

If you manage your DNS zone at your registrar (not inside AlterHosting), please update your DNS to reflect our new infrastructure. This ensures your website and email continue to route correctly after the migration.

Choose one of the two options below.

Option 1 (recommended): Switch your domain nameservers to AlterHosting

Set your domain’s NS records at your registrar to:

Host IP
mns1.alterhosting.com 169.46.72.116
mns2.alterhosting.com 169.46.72.124

After this change, DNS for your domain will be managed on our side.

Option 2: Keep your current nameservers and update A/MX-related records

Update your DNS zone at your registrar as follows:

Website

Host Type Value
@ A 169.46.72.116
www A 169.46.72.116

Mail (only if your email is hosted with AlterHosting)
MX records must point to a hostname (not an IP). Here’s the typical setup:

Host Type Value
mail A 169.46.72.116
@ MX (priority 10) mail.yourdomain.com

If you use a third-party email provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.), do not change your MX. Keep your provider’s MX records and only update the website A record(s) if needed.

Propagation note: DNS changes may take time to propagate depending on your registrar and your current TTL settings. If you can, lowering TTL a few hours before a change can help, but it’s not required.

Scheduled maintenance: migration to new servers (January 17-19, 2026)
Maintenance window (Central Time, Dallas): Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 5:47 AM CT - Monday, January 19, 2026 at 5:00 AM CT

We are migrating AlterHosting services to a new generation of faster, higher-capacity servers.

  • We are preparing and syncing data to the new platform in advance.
  • During the maintenance window, we switch services over to the new servers.

Expected impact: no downtime for normal use. Some long-lived sessions (SSH/FTP) may reconnect briefly.

Contact us in advance if you use IP allowlisting or have critical integrations.
